Animal science deals with domesticated animals - Breeding, Care, etc. It is a kind of applied Zoology. But Zoology covers the animal kingdom in general, from a purely biological perspective. Of course that is a very large field of study, so there are many specialized fields within zoology, like mamma logy, ornithology, herpetology, ichthyology, entomology, etc

Animal science is under the subject of Agriculture. At many Universities they had both majors and most of the pre-vet kids were Animal Science majors, although you can go to vet school with Zoology major as well. Animal science dealt a lot with farm Animals, they learn how to care for Pigs, Sheep, Goats etc. A few of the classes did overlap between the two majors such as Physiology, Biology, Chemistry, etc.
