Requirement of the Naval Aviation for indigenisation include spares, materials, assemblies and support equipment necessary to operate, maintain and overhaul existing aircraft and systems. The categories of items / spares that are being indigenised and areas where the requirement of indigeneous technology development continuous to exists are briefly given below:-
• Aircraft General Spares like bolts, clamps, nuts, screws, washers, fasteners, cleats, rivets etc of various sizes and types.
• Rubberised and plastic items consisting of seals / gaskets, Canopy Seal, Door Seals, diaphragms, wire and cotton braided hoses for hydraulic, fuel and pneumatic systems, teflon hoses, oxygen hoses, covers cushions, moulded rubber items, beading and linings etc
• Metallic pipelines of various types.
• Aircraft bearings and bushes.
• MIL grade equivalent break down spares for electrical / electronic items consisting of resistors, capacitors, diodes, transformers, small motors, fuses, switches and relays, radio frequency cables, analog / digital and hybrid components etc.
• Modules involving ICs/Hybrid circuits, multi layer PCBs etc.
• Electrical connectors, aviation standard carbon brush, flexible connections, inverters, heating plates, igniter Plugs, thermal elements, duplexer assemblies, heater resistance, relay coils, electro mechanical counters, distributors for rocket launcher, cable (high energy ignition units ) and electric motors etc.
• Wind shields, window panels, aircraft direct vision window and other perspex panels.
• Electronic power supply modules including DC to AC converters, linear power supplies and switch mode supplies, sub-units/ modules of Radars, gyro units, magnetic storage units, fuel measuring units, oil quantity measuring units, digital indicators, bit cables, converter units, magnetic amplifiers, Oscillator etc..
• Special tools, measuring equipment and electronic test equipment.
• Materials like metals/ alloys of various specifications, composites, organic glass (Perspex), heat resistant covers and other special purpose materials.
• Chemical like glues, sealant, paints and corrosion resistant coating.
